Chesapeake is embarking on a two-year long process that will update the City’s Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive Plan is an incredibly important document that guides how the City moves into the future. It provides a framework for smart growth while protecting and preserving the things we already have and love. It’s used by City departments and elected officials in decision-making, and it can be a useful resource for individuals and businesses.
Questions and concerns about growth and development are some of the most common that we receive here at the City and our response often points to the Comprehensive Plan so this process heavily relies on input from all of you. If you’ve ever thought, “I really love that about Chesapeake, I hope it sticks around” or perhaps “I really wish Chesapeake had ______,” then this is your time to get involved.
To kick off the process, there are several open houses. Stop by at any time, ask questions, and give your input. If you can’t make any of them, don’t worry because there will be many other opportunities to come and you can always reach out to the Planning Department (757-382-6176) to share your thoughts.
