HRSD is working to repair a sewer force main pipe failure that occurred near the corner of Shell Rd. and Hopewell Dr. The repair work requires that they divert sewage flow away from the area and shut off nearby pump stations. This will require a “pump and haul” process during which trucks will remove sewage from the affected pump stations and bring it to other pump stations or manholes nearby. The affected areas are noted on the map below.
Work will take place overnight starting tomorrow, Thursday, June 15 at 7:00 p.m. through 8:00 a.m. Friday morning. Those who live in the affected area may notice increased noise, traffic, crews, heavy equipment, and lights. The work will not impact anyone’s sewer service. There will be a road closure at 901 Shell Rd, near Hopewell Drive to accommodate the underground work.
While HRSD anticipates that the work will be complete after one night of work, the sewer infrastructure in this area of the City is very old so it’s difficult to anticipate an exact length of the project until crews get to the pipe underground. If you have any questions about the repair work, please contact HRSD Public Information Specialist Lisa Bolen at lbolen@hrsd.com.
