UPDATE: All travel lanes on S Military Hwy, between Shell Road and Canal Drive are now open.

A Norfolk Naval Shipyard Gas Line installation project will require lane closures and traffic shifts on S. Military Hwy, west of the Gilmerton Bridge, between Shell Road and Canal Drive starting on Monday, August 21. At least a single lane of traffic will be open in both directions at all times, but the work zones will move within the project location. Motorists should use extreme caution through the work zone and be prepared for changes in traffic patterns. The project, delayed by the Shipyard from its original start date last month, is expected to be complete by the end of September 2023, weather permitting.
