UPDATE: Today, 05/15, inspectors continued to assess the damage done to the underside of the 168 Bypass Bridge, over the canal (Chesapeake Expressway). The bridge is safe for use but will remain at one southbound lane until further notice. Traffic Engineering is looking into alternate traffic patterns that could accommodate additional traffic while still allowing for work done on the bridge but that has not been put into place yet. Additional updates will be posted upon receipt. 

There will be a right lane closure on Chesapeake 168 Expressway Southbound, over the canal, beginning May 13 at 7:00 a.m. to allow for emergency bridge repairs. The work will continue until repairs are completed. Updates to work timeline will be posted upon receipt.
