Environmental Programs & Events

The Environmental Programs division of the Parks, Recreation and Tourism department promotes interest in improving the environment of Chesapeake thereby making Chesapeake a greener, cleaner, healthier city in which to live, learn, work, farm, and play. This is accomplished through outreach, education and coordination of volunteer efforts including litter and pollution prevention, waste reduction and recycling, beautification, conservation landscaping, and other environmental and conservation issues. The Environmental Programs division works closely with the Chesapeake Environmental Improvement Council (CEIC) and other community groups in their environmental activities and projects.

Award Programs & Contests including the Notable Yard Contest, Chesapeake Clean and Green Poster Contest, Keep Chesapeake Beautiful Calendar Contest, and the Environmental Awards Program.
