Workforce Development - Learning & Development

The City of Chesapeake's Human Resources Department has an In-House Training program that offers a wide variety of training courses to City employees. Employees throughout the organization are encouraged to participate in the program. The training is designed to focus on meeting the needs of our City employees, increasing their job skills and preparing them to better compete for career advancement. Relevant training is considered as one of the factors in selecting the most suitable candidate for advancement.

We are pleased to have qualified staff who facilitate world-renowned courses such as Real Colors. In addition, we are excited to offer other such popular courses as Coaching Skills for Supervisors, Managing Diversity: Four Generations in the Workplace and Change Management. Successful completion of the Supervisory Certificate Program is required of all City supervisors.

The Certificate Program consists of six required courses and your choice of 2 electives from "Communication" to "Change Management".
