It Began as a Dream
Through the tireless efforts of volunteer members of the Mayor's Commission on Veterans Affairs and the overwhelming generosity of citizens and businesses, the dream of a Chesapeake Veterans Memorial became a reality!
The memorial groundbreaking was held in conjunction with the Memorial Day Ceremony on May 30, 2002.
The memorial was dedicated during the Veterans Day Ceremony on November 11, 2002.
Chesapeake is proud of our veterans.
