Infant Intervention

Our Infant Intervention team is working and taking referrals. See our Infant and Toddler Connection FAQs (PDF) for information on how we're operating during this health emergency.

The Chesapeake Infant Intervention Program is the local lead agency for the Infant and Toddler Connection of Chesapeake. It provides early intervention supports and services to infants and toddlers from birth to age three who are not developing as expected or who have a medical condition that is likely to result in a disability. Early intervention focuses on increasing the child's participation in family and community activities that are important to the family. In addition, supports and services focus on helping parents and other caregivers know how to find ways to help children learn during everyday activities. Services are available to all eligible children and their families living in Chesapeake regardless of the family's ability to pay.

Available services include:

  • Developmental assessments
  • Medical consultations
  • Occupational therapy
  • Physical therapy
  • Speech-language pathology
  • Supportive services
  • Vision services
