Larviciding is the act of controlling mosquito larvae in water. Throughout Chesapeake, inspections are performed in order to reveal those areas where mosquito breeding might be a potential problem. If breeding is found and cannot be eliminated physically, a Larvicide is applied which will kill the larvae and pupae present. The goal of Larviciding is to prevent the larvae and pupae from emerging and becoming adults. Methods used for applying Larvicide consist of: all-terrain vehicle (ATV)/Argo, Handheld Spray/Backpack and Roadside Jeep.
