APPLICANTS NEEDED FOR CITY BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS

CHESAPEAKE -- The Chesapeake City Council is seeking residents who may be interested in serving on various boards and commissions. Boards and commissions provide a vital service to various City departments, agencies and City Council.

Citizens wishing to serve must complete an application form. Applications are due in the City Clerk’s office by September 1, 2010. City Council will appoint candidates for these vacancies during its September 28, 2010, meeting.

Applications are currently being accepted for the following vacancies:

• Chesapeake Bicycle/Trails Advisory Committee, 6 appointments
       (One must be a Farm Bureau Representative)
• Chesapeake Cable Television Commission, 1 appointment
• Chesapeake Committee on Aging, 1 appointment
• Chesapeake Community Criminal Justice Board, 1 appointment
• Chesapeake Tourism Advisory Board, 1 appointment
       (Restaurant Industry Rep. – Continued from July 27)
• Chesapeake Youth Committee, 4 appointments
• Groundwater Committee, 5 appointments
• Natural Event Mitigation Advisory Committee, 2 appointments
       (One continued from July 27)
• S. Hampton Rds. Resource Conservation & Development Council, 2 appointments
• Sports Authority Council, 1 appointment
• Transportation Safety Commission, 5 appointments
• Wetlands Board/Chesapeake Bay Preservation Area Board, 4 appointments

Applications are currently being accepted for the following previously advertised vacancies:

• South Norfolk Revitalization Commission, 2 appointments
