APPLICANTS NEEDED FOR CITY BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
CHESAPEAKE -- The Chesapeake City Council is seeking residents who may be interested in serving on various boards and commissions. Boards and commissions provide a vital service to various City departments, agencies and City Council.
Citizens wishing to serve must complete an application form. Applications are due in the City Clerk’s office by November 2, 2009. City Council will appoint candidates for these vacancies during its November 24, 2009, meeting.
Applications are currently being accepted for the following Boards and Commissions:
- Chesapeake Cable Television Commission, 4 appointments
- Chesapeake Commission for the Prevention of AIDS, 2 appointments
- Chesapeake Tourism Advisory Board, 3 appointments
(One must be from the Hotel Industry & one must be a General Business Representative) - Citizens Juvenile Advisory Council, 3 appointments
- Community Services Board, 4 appointments
(Three must be Consumers, Former Consumers, or Family Members of Consumers) - Fire Prevention Code Appeals Board, 1 appointment
- Human Services Advisory Board, 5 appointments
In addition, applications are currently being accepted for the following previously advertised vacancies:
- Chesapeake Bicycle/Trails Advisory Committee, 6 appointments
(One must be a Farm Bureau Representative & two must be Equestrian Representatives) - Chesapeake Commission on Substance Abuse, 1 appointment
- Chesapeake Community Criminal Justice Board, 1 appointment
(One must be an Attorney) - Groundwater Committee, 6 appointments
(Citizens) - Natural Event Mitigation Advisory Committee, 2 appointments
(One must be a Non-Profit Organization Representative) - Transportation Safety Commission, 1 appointment
