CHESAPEAKE TO HOST COMPREHENSIVE PLAN COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS

CHESAPEAKE - The City of Chesapeake will host a series of community workshops on the update of the 2026 Comprehensive Plan throughout the month of October at several locations around the community.

This new initiative, “Moving Forward – Chesapeake 2030,” will introduce the review/update process and gather public input. The Comprehensive Plan serves as a blueprint to guide the City’s future growth and land use. The Planning Department is asking for citizens’ help setting the City’s vision and goals over the next 20 years.

The workshops will all be in the same format and will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. as follows:

  • October 8, Major Hillard Library, 824 Old George Washington Highway North;
  • October 13, South Norfolk Community Center, 1217 Godwin Avenue;
  • October 22, Southeastern Elementary School, 1853 Battlefield Blvd;
  • October 28, Towne Bank public meeting room, 137 Mt. Pleasant Road;
  • October 29, Indian River Library, 2320 Old Greenbrier Road; and
  • November 5, Russell Memorial Library, 2808 Taylor Road.

For those that cannot attend one of the community workshops, comments may be submitted by e-mail to movingforward2030@cityofchesapeake.net or by mail to the Planning Department, 306 Cedar Road, 2nd Floor, Chesapeake, VA 23322.
