APPLICANTS NEEDED FOR CITY BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
CHESAPEAKE -- The Chesapeake City Council is seeking residents who may be interested in serving on various boards and commissions. Boards and commissions provide a vital service to various City departments, agencies and City Council.
Citizens wishing to serve must complete an application form. Applications are due in the City Clerk’s office by October 1, 2009. City Council will appoint candidates for these vacancies during its October 27, 2009, meeting.
Applications are currently being accepted for the following Boards and Commissions:
- Chesapeake Committee on Aging, 3 appointments
- Citizens Juvenile Advisory Council, 1 appointment
- Library Board, 2 appointments
- Natural Event Mitigation Advisory Committee, 4 appointments
- Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, 9 appointments
(One must have physical or mental disability) - Planning Commission, 3 appointments
- South Norfolk Revitalization Commission, 4 appointments
- Stormwater Committee, 1 appointment
In addition, applications are currently being accepted for the following previously advertised vacancies:
- Chesapeake Bicycle/Trails Advisory Committee, 6 appointments
(Farm Bureau Representative) - Chesapeake Commission on Substance Abuse, 1 appointment
- Chesapeake Community Criminal Justice Board, 1 appointment
(One must be an Attorney) - Groundwater Committee, 6 appointments
