CHESAPEAKE TO HOST COMPREHENSIVE PLAN COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS
CHESAPEAKE - The City of Chesapeake will host a series of community workshops on the update of the 2026 Comprehensive Plan throughout the month of September at several locations around the community.
This new initiative, “Moving Forward – Chesapeake 2030,” will introduce the review/update process and gather public input. The Comprehensive Plan serves as a blueprint to guide the City’s future growth and land use. The Planning Department is asking for citizens’ help setting the City’s vision and goals over the next 20 years.
The workshops will all be in the same format and will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. as follows: September 2, Major Hillard Library conference room in Deep Creek, 824 Old George Washington Highway North; September 14, Western Branch Intermediate School gymnasium, 4013 Terry Drive; September 16, Indian River Library conference room, 2320 Old Greenbrier Road; September 21, Truitt Intermediate School gymnasium in South Norfolk, 1100 Holly Avenue; and September 24, Towne Bank public meeting room in Great Bridge, 137 Mt. Pleasant Road.
For those that cannot attend one of the community workshops, comments may be submitted by e-mail to movingforward2030@cityofchesapeake.net or by mail to the Planning Department, 306 Cedar Road, 2nd Floor, Chesapeake 23322. In addition to the City's project website, www.cityofchesapeake.net/movingforward2030, citizens can also stay informed of the update progress on Twitter, by following Chesapeake2030.
