APPLICANTS NEEDED FOR CITY BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
CHESAPEAKE -- The Chesapeake City Council is seeking residents who may be interested in serving on various boards and commissions. Boards and commissions provide a vital service to various City departments, agencies and City Council.
Citizens wishing to serve must complete an application form. Applications are due in the City Clerk’s office by January 5, 2009. City Council will appoint candidates for these vacancies during its January 27, 2009, meeting.
Applications are currently being accepted for the following Boards and Commissions:
- Board of Historic and Architectural Review, 5 appointments
- Chesapeake Agricultural Advisory Commission, 1 appointment
- Chesapeake Historic Preservation Commission, 5 appointments
- Law Library Board, 2 appointments
- Local Emergency Planning Committee, 1 appointment
- Mosquito Control Commission, 1 appointment
- Natural Event Mitigation Advisory Committee, 2 appointments
- Stormwater Committee, 3 appointments
- Transportation Safety Commission, 1 appointment
In addition, applications are currently being accepted for the following previously advertised vacancies:
- Chesapeake City Symbol Committee, 8 appointments
- Chesapeake Commission for the Prevention of AIDS, 7 appointments
(One must be HIV Positive) - South Hampton Roads Disability Services Board, 2 appointments
(One must be physically impaired & one must be visually impaired or family members of physically or visually impaired)
