APPLICANTS NEEDED FOR CITY BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
CHESAPEAKE -- The Chesapeake City Council is seeking residents who may be interested in serving on various boards and commissions. Boards and commissions provide a vital service to various City departments, agencies and City Council.
Citizens wishing to serve must complete an application form. Applications are due in the City Clerk’s office by November 3, 2008. City Council will appoint candidates for these vacancies during its November 25, 2008, meeting.
Applications are currently being accepted for the following Boards and Commissions:
- Cable Television Commission, 3 appointments
- Chesapeake Commission for the Prevention of AIDS, 5 appointments
- Chesapeake Historic Preservation Commission, 7 appointments
- Chesapeake Redevelopment and Housing Authority, 1 appointment
- Chesapeake Youth Committee, 8 appointments
- Citizens Juvenile Advisory Council, 3 appointments
- Community Services Board, 5 appointments
- Fire Prevention Code Appeals Board, 2 appointments
- Hospital Authority, 4 appointments
- Human Services Advisory Board, 6 appointments
- Multi-Jurisdictional Disability Services Board, 3 appointments
In addition, applications are currently being accepted for the following previously advertised vacancies:
- Chesapeake Agricultural Advisory Commission, 1 appointment
(Must have livestock background) - Animal Control Advisory Board, 1 appointment
(Must be a member of the Humane Society) - Chesapeake City Symbol Committee, 8 appointments
- Chesapeake Commission for the Prevention of AIDS, 1 appointment
(Must be HIV Positive) - Chesapeake Interagency Consortium, 1 appointment
(Must be a Parent Representative) - Groundwater Committee, 4 appointments
- South Hampton Roads Disability Services Board, 1 appointment
(Must be physically impaired)
