APPLICANTS NEEDED FOR CITY BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
CHESAPEAKE -- The Chesapeake City Council is seeking residents who may be interested in serving on various boards and commissions. Boards and commissions provide a vital service to various City departments, agencies and City Council.
Citizens wishing to serve must complete an application form. Applications are due in the City Clerk’s office by January 2, 2008. City Council will appoint candidates for these vacancies during its January 22, 2008, meeting. Applications are currently being accepted for the following vacancies:
- Cable Television Commission, 1 appointment
- Chesapeake Bicycle/Trails Advisory Committee, 1 appointment
- Chesapeake Commission for the Prevention of AIDS, 1 appointment
(Must be a medical professional) - Chesapeake Community Criminal Justice Board, 3 appointments
- Chesapeake Historic Preservation Commission, 1 appointment
- Chesapeake Interagency Consortium, 1 appointment
- Chesapeake Juvenile Advisory Board, 1 appointment
- Law Library Board, 1 appointment
- South Norfolk Revitalization Commission, 1 appointment
- Stormwater Committee, 6 appointments
Applicants are also needed to fill vacancies on previously advertised boards:
- Animal Control Advisory Board, 2 appointments
(One must be a veterinarian) - Chesapeake City Symbol Committee, 8 appointments
- Chesapeake Commission on Substance Abuse, 5 appointments
- Community Services Board, 1 appointment
(Must be a consumer/family member of a consumer) - Chesapeake Tourism Advisory Board, 7 appointments
(3 must be from the Hotel Industry)
(1 must be from the Retail Industry)
(1 must be from the Restaurant Industry)
(1 must be from the General Business Community)
(1 must be from a Local Tourism/Convention/Visitor Attraction) - Community Services Board, 1 appointment
(Must be a consumer/family member of a consumer) - Local Emergency Planning Committee, 5 appointments
- Southeastern Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program, 1 appointment
