COUNCIL ON YOUTH SERVICES TO HOST LEGISLATIVE BREAKFAST

CHESAPEAKE – The Chesapeake Council on Youth Services (CCOYS) will host its 19th Annual Legislative Breakfast on Tuesday, November 13, at 7:30 a.m., at the Chesapeake Conference Center.

This annual event provides a forum for discussion and exchange of information between the Chesapeake General Assembly Delegation, the Chesapeake Youth Committee, CCOYS, key City officials, community leaders, professionals serving children and families, and the public. General Assembly members Senator Harry B. Blevins, Senator Yvonne Miller, Delegate John A. Cosgrove, Delegate Lionell Spruill, Sr., and Delegate Terrie L. Suit are scheduled to attend. Additional General Assembly members may also be in attendance at the event.

Topics to be addressed during the breakfast include an overview of legislation and funding affecting youth and families in the areas of mental health, juvenile delinquency and truancy, and permanency planning for children as required by federal law. 

Event sponsors include Child & Family Services of Eastern Virginia, Family Redirection Institute, Inc., Great Bridge/Hickory Family YMCA, Institute for Family Centered Services and Riverside Behavioral Health Center.
