APPLICANTS NEEDED FOR CITY BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
CHESAPEAKE -- The Chesapeake City Council is seeking residents who may be interested in serving on various boards and commissions. Boards and commissions provide a vital service to various City departments, agencies and City Council.
Citizens wishing to serve must complete an application form. Applications are due in the City Clerk’s office by November 1, 2007. City Council will appoint candidates for these vacancies during its November 27, 2007, meeting. Applications are currently being accepted for the following vacancies:
- Animal Control Advisory Board, 1 appointment
- Chesapeake Committee on Aging, appointment
- Chesapeake Commission for the Prevention of AIDS, 1 appointment
- Citizens Juvenile Advisory Council, 3 appointments
- Community Services Board, 3 appointments
- Fire Prevention Code Appeals Board, 2 appointments
- Hospital Authority, 3 appointments
- Local Board of Building Code Appeals, 3 appointments
- Natural Event Mitigation Advisory Committee, 3 appointments
- South Norfolk Revitalization Commission, 1 appointment
- Towing Advisory Board, 2 appointments
Applicants are also needed to fill vacancies on previously advertised boards:
- Animal Control Advisory Board, 1 appointment
(Must be a veterinarian) - Chesapeake City Symbol Committee, 8 appointments
- Chesapeake Commission on Substance Abuse, 3 appointments
- Chesapeake Tourism Advisory Board, 7 appointments
(3 must be from the Hotel Industry)
(1 must be from the Retail Industry)
(1 must be from the Restaurant Industry)
(1 must be from the General Business Community)
(1 must be from a Local Tourism/Convention/Visitor Attraction) - Community Services Board, 1 appointment
(Must be a consumer) - Southeastern Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program, 1 appointment
- Transportation Safety Commission, 2 appointments
