Public Works Department - Operations
Road and Shoulder Maintenance
Public Works maintains over 2,300 miles of roadway and connected shoulders throughout the City. The City's maintenance operations are directed toward safe travel and preservation of the road surface. Public Works conducts very detailed evaluations of the surface and sub-surface of all City-maintained roads. Repairs are made first to the roads in the greatest need of maintenance, based on existing conditions and volumes of traffic.
Maintenance is either contracted or performed by professional Public Works crews. Maintenance may consist of resurfacing, crack sealing; and pothole, cave in, curb and shoulder repair.
