Dead Animal Removal

Public Works collects dead animals in the City's right-of-way. The City will not enter private property to remove dead animals; however, if you place the animal in a plastic bag and leave it at the roadside the City will dispose of it for you. To report a dead animal, call the Chesapeake Customer Contact Center at 382-CITY(2489). PLEASE NOTE that animals, pets or otherwise, should not be buried on private property due to potential contamination of ground water.
