Major T. R. Torres

Major Tony R. Torres is one of four Majors assigned to the command staff of the Chesapeake Police Department. Major Torres is responsible for providing leadership and oversight for the Department's Patrol Operations Bureau. The Patrol Operations Bureau is comprised of all five Police Precincts, the S.W.A.T. Team, the Dive Team, the Marine Patrol Unit, the Motorcycle Unit, the Traffic Enforcement Section, the K-9 Unit, the Warrant Unit, the Crime Prevention Unit, the Auxiliary Police Unit, the Police Chaplain Unit and Animal Control.  

The main focus of the Patrol Operations Bureau is to partner with citizens and other City Departments to identify, prioritize and solve contemporary problems such as crime, fear of crime, illegal drugs, and neighborhood decay, with the goal of improving the overall quality of life in Chesapeake.

Major Torres joined the Chesapeake Police Department in 1989 and progressed through the ranks, serving in all four of the Department’s Bureaus. He was appointed to the position of Major in 2008.
