Lieutenant Colonel Louis J. Tayon, Jr., Deputy Chief of Police is responsible for the Department's Budget and Accounting functions in addition to overseeing the Investigations, Operations, Support and Professional Standards Bureaus.

Lieutenant Colonel Tayon joined the Chesapeake Police Department in 1968 and progressed through the ranks, serving in all major units within the Department. He was appointed Deputy Chief in 1997. Lieutenant Colonel Tayon has a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice, has attended numerous law enforcement schools and seminars and is a graduate of the 64th Session of the Southern Police Institute.
