Vice and Narcotics Section

The Vice and Narcotics section of the Chesapeake Police Department is primarily responsible for drug and vice investigations within the City. This Section conducts training in drug detection and recognition for Uniform Patrol Officers and also conducts any special investigations as directed by the Chief of Police.

In addition, the Vice and Narcotics section participates in a regional Federal Drug Task Force (Mid Atlantic OCDETF), by supplying a Detective to this task force. This Detective coordinates any significant local or federal investigations, occurring in Chesapeake, with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Lastly, the Vice and Narcotics section has concurrent jurisdiction and responsibility with the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Commission (ABC) of reviewing all businesses in the City of Chesapeake applying for an alcoholic beverage license.
