The City of Chesapeake is commencing a review and update of the Forward Chesapeake 2026 Comprehensive Plan, which was adopted by City Council on March 9, 2005. This new initiative is being called "Moving Forward - Chesapeake 2030." The Comprehensive Plan serves as a blueprint to guide the City's future growth and land use, and we need your help setting the City's vision and goals to guide development over the next twenty years!

As the Moving Forward - Chesapeake 2030 process gets underway, it is very important that we gather input from Chesapeake citizens as to what is working well and perhaps not so well with regard to the Comprehensive Plan's various land use, growth management and development policies. The Planning Department has scheduled a series of Community Input Workshops to introduce the review/update process and to gather your comments. The dates, times, and locations of these workshops are listed below:

The Community Workshops will all be in the same format and will include an initial presentation to introduce the purpose of the workshops, then smaller breakout groups will move through four stations.  The stations will consist of the Plan's vision statement and 2026 Land Use Plan, Infrastructure and the 2050 Master Transportation Plan, Sustainability, and Quality of Life.  Goals for each of the stations have been compiled and staff is requesting feedback in the form of "keep", "tweak", "delete", or new ideas.  We look forward to seeing you there!
