Parks & Recreation Department - Notable Yards 2008
WESTERN BRANCH. Charles and Teresa Morgan. 1721 Swan Lake Crescent.
Charles and Teresa Morgan have a tasteful and elegant yard. Plantings in the backyard pop against the dark, green wooded area behind their home. Foliage with many shades of green, from spring green to dark spruce green are soothing and interesting. Flowering trees and plants with blossoms in shades of pink, purple, and lavender contrast the greens of the foliage.
A beautiful, old-world looking stone wall peaks out from the back garden. “Charles built the wall himself,” said Teresa. An angel statue is a focal point in the garden. A gently curved bridge adds an Oriental touch.
“I have really strived for diversity in the garden,” said Charles. Plantings include Japanese maples, yucca, roses, geraniums, impatiens, hydrangeas, sweet potato vine, and more. The yard looks like the perfect spot for an outdoor party.
