GREAT BRIDGE. Douglas and Susan Palmateer. 905 Meadow Trail Road.
If a garden can give you a clue about its owners, then Douglas and Susan Palmateer are hard-working gardeners with an eye for detail. Everything in their garden is balanced, perfectly manicured, and healthy.
Plantings are balanced on each side of the front walkway, porch, and in the beds along the front of the house. The edging on their corner lot is enviable. Their window shutters, impressive front door, and even the elegant hose reel are painted a lovely, warm shade of brown.
Their dwarf crape myrtle bush is bigger than a car with beautiful pale pink blossoms and not a single blemish. They have also planted lantana, begonias, coleus, pentas, daylilies, Royal Star magnolia, Autumn Blaze maple, and a purple plum tree.
“Susan is the designer,” said Douglas. “I’m the laborer.”
“I like to go to the library and research plants before deciding what to include in our yard,” said Susan.
The Palmateers even worked together to install their sprinkler system. They have lived in their home for 13 years.
