CEIC Announces Winners for 2006
Chesapeake's Notable Yards Contest
Award-winning gardens in all six Chesapeake high school districts have been recognized by the Chesapeake Environmental Improvement Council (CEIC) as part of the Chesapeake’s Notable Yards Contest.
An award has been presented to a home in each of the City’s six high school districts. Each winner received a certificate, a $50 gift certificate from White’s Old Mill Garden Center, and placement of a sign in the yard for a one-month period. The program is sponsored by the Chesapeake Environmental Improvement Council (CEIC).
“This program is so much fun,” said Jean Pfaehler, mayoral-appointee to the CEIC and co-chairperson of the program. “All of the gardens are so different, and the winners are all so creative.” The other cochairperson is Vickie Greene.
Each of the winning yards is quite different from the other. Each yard reflects the interests and lifestyle of its owners.
The 2006 winners include:
- DEEP CREEK - Fred and Jean Wood
- GREAT BRIDGE - Richard and Janet Lantz
- HICKORY - Jack and Sandy Clifton
- INDIAN RIVER - Diana Etheridge
- OSCAR SMITH - James and Irene Allen
- WESTERN BRANCH - Steve and Vicki Kincaid
