HICKORY. Sindy and Jack Clifton. 2932 Ballahack Road.
Sindy and Jack Clifton's home in the Hickory area is a calm and natural retreat. A large, wooded lot provides privacy. The couple landscapes two of the seven acres. Wildlife-including frogs, dragonflies, ladybugs, preying mantis, and birds-regularly visit the yard.
Jack has created beautiful brick walkways, decorative brick accents to the driveway, and a gazebo covered deck. "Jack even created his own little private beach-like area and decorated it with pelican statues," said Sindy.
"We spend our weekends in the garden," said Jack. "We love to work in our yard."
Decorative yard art and statuary is tastefully tucked throughout the garden. The couple provided privacy for their yard by installing a raised berm covered with trees and plants. Plantings include flox, hostas, iris, daylilies, and wax myrtle. "We left as many large trees as possible when we originally cleared our lot," said Sindy.
"I'm excited about our next project," said Sindy. "We plan to build an oriental garden with a stream."
In one small corner of the yard, Jack created his own "little beach", complete with a rustic pelican statue, grasses, and other artwork with beach theme.
