Information Technology Department

The Department of Information Technology provides centralized and decentralized automated information systems technology services to City departments and the Chesapeake School Administration. In addition, the Communications Division of Information Technology manages all radio and telephone systems serving City departments.

Services provided include:

  • Guiding and advising City departments and the Chesapeake School Administration in their use of computerized and office automation technology;

  • Analyzing needs and developing new information systems; maintaining and enhancing information systems through analysis, programming, design, and implementation;

  • Planning, developing, and maintaining the infrastructure that provides data connectivity to City and School offices;

  • Designing, procuring, and maintaining radio and telephone systems; maintaining compliance with the Federal Communications Commission; and

  • Administering contracts associated with the operation of the multi-disciplined communication system.
