Unattended Children Policy
For a child alone,
a few minutes can be
an eternity.
Don't leave your child unattended.
City staff strive to provide a safe, friendly and appropriate environment, but cannot watch, keep track of, or otherwise be responsible for individual minors who are present in City facilities. Unlike schools, daycare centers, or other licensed/unlicensed children’s programs, most City facilities are not closely regulated environments, and have either no direct control or only modest control over the movement of children and adults in and out of those facilities.
Therefore, city staff in those facilities do not assume any custodial responsibility for the children there. That responsibility remains with the children’s parents, who must ensure that their children have the level of adult supervision and care that they need.
