Social Work Crisis
The mission of the Social Work Crisis Intervention Program (SWCIP) is
to provide short-term crisis intervention services to customers in need.
What services are provided?
We provide information, referrals, counseling and limited financial assisstance for prescriptions, transportation, utilities, food and housing services.
How do I qualify?
To qualify, customers must be in a crisis situation and demonstrate that their current circumstances cannot be resolved without the intervention and support of the program.
What is a “Crisis Situation”?
A crisis situation is short-term, temporary condition that, if left unresolved, may endanger a person's health, safety or well-being.
Who is eligible?
Residents of Chesapeake with limited income, who may potentially be at loss of their basic human needs, may be eligible for SWCIP services.
How do I apply for assistance?
If you are a current customer of Social Services, you may contact your case worker for referral information. New customers may call Social Services at (757) 382-2000, or walk-in between the hours of 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM services.
