Station 3 is currently the oldest fire station in the city, having been in existence since 1951.  The Chesapeake Fire Department will begin construction to replace Station 3 with a new, state of the art, 10,000 sq ft station by early 2008.

The station houses 21 firefighters, with six on duty each 24 hour shift.  Station 3 also has one Engine Company, an ALS medic company, and one reserve medic unit.  Station 3 also protects a very diverse area, ranging from low-income housing to multi-million dollar waterfront homes, as well as small businesses to large industrial businesses, including multi-story hotels.
