Chesapeake Emergency Operations CenterWelcome to the City of Chesapeake Office of Emergency Management website.  The Office of Emergency Management, or OEM, is responsible for disaster planning for the City of Chesapeake.  This is accomplished by conducting a program of comprehensive emergency management principles including mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.

An important part of this process is conducting an ongoing survey of actual or potential hazards which threaten life and property within the city.  Once these hazards are identified, planning takes place to reduce the impact of such hazards if a disaster does occur.

All of this information contributes to the development of an emergency management plan, which addresses these issues, and serves as a guide for the City to respond to disasters.  Another benefit of this information is it allows us to present pertinent information regarding disaster preparedness to the public.

Please take a moment to browse our site to find information that will help you and your family become better prepared against disasters.  We hope this information is beneficial to our citizens and helps the community become a safer place to live.
