Chesapeake Fine Arts Department!

Just a friendly reminder that it is time to begin planning for 2008 Co-Sponsorship,Project and Operational Grants.

The application deadline is Thursday
January 17, 2008. The applications need
to be in our office by 5:00 PM.

The Commission provides arts education grants to individuals and also Project and Operational grants to non-profit cultural and fine arts organizations and City agencies.

The CFAC has sponsored a large variety of programs - from local organizations such as the Chesapeake Civic Chorus to cultural and fine arts programming at WHRO-TV. Each year since 1986, over $100,000 has been awarded each year in grants to area arts organization. In a joint effort with the Chesapeake Public School system, CFAC also provides a tuition-free Summer String Clinic, Strolling Strings, elementary and junior high instrumental and vocal clinics, and a new student steel drum band as well as interaction with the Virginia Symphony, Virginia Opera and Young Audiences of Virginia.

Grant applicants must demonstrate that the programs will be a direct benefit to the cultural enrichment of the citizens of Chesapeake.
