Chesapeake Fine Arts Commission

Grants for Individuals and Organizations

art student with entries Greetings from the
Chesapeake Fine Arts Department!

Just a friendly reminder that it is time to begin planning for FY 2009-2010 Co-Sponsorship, Project, Operational and Individual Opportunity Grants.

Deadline for all completed applications, to be received by our office no later than 5:00 p.m., is Thursday January 8, 2009.

The Chesapeake Fine Arts Commission provides project, operational and individual opportunity grants to nonprofit cultural and fine arts organizations, individuals, and co-sponsorship grants to City agencies. Grant applications must demonstrate direct benefit to the citizens of Chesapeake. The Commission sponsors diverse activities such as opera, music and drama programs for/in the public schools. It has given financial support to organizations that serve the entire Hampton Roads area. Support is also given to Chesapeake’s own Summer Performance Series, “Under the Stars” on the Robert G. “Buddy” Bagley stage in City Park.

For further information concerning the guidelines, eligibility and applications, please call (757) 382-6411.

“The arts are an industry that generates extraordinary economic activity, jobs and tax revenues. When we say that the arts mean business, that’s not just a slogan; it’s the truth.”

President and CEO
