Chesapeake Fine Arts Commission
About the CFAC
The 14 Fine Arts Commissioners are appointed by City Council. Each volunteer member is eligible to serve a four-year term and may not serve more than two consecutive terms. The tasks of the Commission are varied. CFAC promotes the appreciation of and participation in the fine arts through a variety of grants and sponsorship of events. Acting in cooperation with other Chesapeake agencies and other Hampton Roads cities, organizations, and corporations, the Fine Arts Commission helps to provide many programs for schools and for the public.
"Symphony Under the Stars"Robert G "Buddy" Bagley Stage
One of the successful collaborations resulted in the granting of seed money for the design and construction of the Robert G. “Buddy” Bagley Stage. The stage was completed in record time. This was accomplished through the combined efforts of the business community and dedicated individuals who donated financial support as well as labor, time and materials. The stage premiered in 2003.

L Randy Harrison
In 1994, at the request of the Fine Arts Commission, the City hired its first Arts Coordinator, Ms. L. Randy Harrision. With staff in place, the CFAC is able to further the work and mission of the volunteer commissioners' years of devotion to the arts community.
