Family Project Homeless Connect Day
On April 24, 2008, the Chesapeake Coalition for the Homeless and the City hosted its first Family Project Homeless Connect Day at the Dr. Clarence V. Cuffee Community Center.
The purpose of this one-stop event was to connect homeless families with resources to move them towards self-sufficiency.
Financial support for the event was provided by the City, the United Way of South Hampton Roads, and a host of other businesses and organizations. Eleven City departments/agencies, 32 service providers, and 200 volunteers provided a variety of services to over 123 homeless families and individuals. See resources for a copy of the final report.
The next Family Project Homeless Connect Day is scheduled to be held on April 22, 2010, from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Dr. Cuffee Community Center. Considerable time, planning, and organizing will be required for this project.
Interested volunteers may contact Ms. Alecia Gregg, CCH Chair (757) 543-3324 or Jean Taylor (757) 382-6925
