• Chesapeake's Mayor and City Council members are elected "at large"
  by Chesapeake citizens.
  
  
• Elections are held in May every two years.
  
  
• The terms of Mayor Dalton Edge and council members C. E. "Cliff" Hayes, Jr., Vice Mayor Dwight M. Parker and Patricia P. Willis will expire in 2008.
  
  
• The terms of council members Dr. John M. de Triquet, Dr. Rebecca C.W. Adams, Bryan L. Collins, Dr. Alan Krasnoff, and Dr. Ella Ward will expire in 2010.
