It is my pleasure to welcome you to the City of Chesapeake. The City’s web site is a perfect place for you to learn what makes Chesapeake so attractive to businesses and families.
Chesapeake is located in southeastern Virginia , in the center of the region known as Hampton Roads. Residents enjoy a high quality of life, thanks to award-winning schools, abundant natural resources, a thriving economy, and a vibrate business community.
It’s easy to call Chesapeake home. Residents enjoy being able to work, live, play and shop all in one place. Spend a day shopping and enjoying our fine restaurants, do a little ice skating, take the kids to Fun Forest , or explore our 48-acre arboretum. Chesapeake is close to many nearby attractions, including the Virginia Beach oceanfront and Colonial Williamsburg.
Natural resources abound in Chesapeake . The City is filled with beautiful parks with well-maintained facilities. Waterfront parks, including those on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway , provide the perfect spot for picnics or just watching the boats go by. The Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, in addition to its rich history, offers hiking, biking, photography, wildlife observation, and fishing and boating.
Companies come and grow here, thanks to Chesapeake ’s business-friendly environment. Employers represent a diverse array of business types, from medical technology to manufacturing. Chesapeake has the largest international business community south of Washington , D.C.
